Your data, treated with Pride.
We’re Great Yarmouth and Waveney Pride: a community-powered celebration, year-round. We want you to feel welcome on our website as well as at Pride. This page explains, in plain English, what information we collect, why we need it, who helps us look after it, and the choices you have.
What information do we collect?
If you contact us: we use the name, email address and message details you choose to send, so the Pride team can reply and deal with your enquiry.
If you place a shop or ticket order: we collect the details needed to process it, such as your name, email address, billing or delivery address, the items or tickets ordered, and the order and payment status. We use your delivery address to get that order to you and to deal with order-related questions or returns. We don’t use it for unrelated marketing.
Card payments: card payments are handled through SumUp. Our website receives the information needed to match a payment with an order; your full card number is handled by the payment service, not stored in our website’s order records. SumUp also has its own privacy information for its payment service.
When you browse: our website and service providers may process technical details such as your IP address, browser or device information, pages visited and referral information. This helps the site load, stay secure and, if you choose analytics, helps us understand which pages people find useful.
We use information for the job it was collected for: answering you, managing an event or ticket, completing and delivering an order, handling a refund or query, keeping required financial records, protecting the site, and improving it where you have chosen optional analytics. In legal terms, this can be necessary to provide a service you asked for, meet a legal obligation, pursue our legitimate interests in running a safe and useful site, or act on your consent.
Cookies and site statistics
Some cookies and similar technologies are essential for the website to work, keep it secure, remember your privacy choice, and run the shop basket and checkout. Optional analytics are off unless you choose them in the cookie banner. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link on the site.
We use Jetpack Stats, provided by Automattic, to understand visits and improve the website. If you accept analytics, Jetpack may process information such as your IP address, browser details, pages visited and referring page. Automattic says its Stats logs containing visitor IP addresses are kept for 28 days to provide the feature. See Jetpack’s Stats privacy information.
Our cookie choices are for this website. If we add another optional service, such as advertising or a new embedded feature, we’ll review its settings and update this notice and the available choices.
Who helps us run the site?
Access is limited to the Pride team members who need the information to do their role. We also use service providers to run the website and shop, take payments, provide site statistics, deliver orders and support event bookings. These include WordPress and WooCommerce, SumUp for card payments, and Automattic for Jetpack Stats. We share only what each service needs to do its job, or what the law requires.
We don’t sell your personal information. Some providers may process information under their own privacy terms as well as ours. Their privacy notices explain their own services and responsibilities.
How long do we keep information?
We keep information only for as long as we need it for the reason we collected it. We keep order and payment records for order support, returns and the financial or legal records we’re required to maintain. We keep enquiries long enough to reply and follow up, and security records for the period needed to protect and maintain the site. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or remove details that identify you. Some providers set their own retention periods for the services they provide.
Your information, your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Depending on the situation, you can also ask us to restrict or object to a use, request a copy in a portable format, or withdraw consent for something that relies on consent. We may need to keep some records where the law requires it, for example financial records.
To make a request, contact the Pride team. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can raise it with us or complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
