Great Yarmouth and Waveney Pride Crowned ‘Pride Organisation of the Year’ at Gaydio Awards 2026
[20/03/2026 – Great Yarmouth] – The team behind Great Yarmouth and Waveney Pride are celebrating today after being named Pride Organisation of the Year at the prestigious Gaydio Pride Awards 2026.
The award, supported by the London Women’s Clinic, recognises the organisation’s outstanding contribution to the LGBTQ+ community, exceptional event delivery, and unwavering commitment to inclusivity across the Great Yarmouth and Waveney region. Competing against organisations from across the UK, Great Yarmouth and Waveney Pride stood out for its dedication to creating safe, welcoming spaces and bringing people together in celebration.
A Day of Celebration and Reflection
This prestigious accolade comes on the same day the organisation launches the ‘Limitless Voices Project’ – a powerful new initiative sharing personal stories submitted by local LGBTQ+ people and allies. The project shines a light on life in Great Yarmouth, exploring how the recent rise in transphobic and xenophobic rhetoric has impacted individuals, families, and the wider community.
Through these firsthand accounts, the project aims to challenge prejudice, foster understanding, and amplify voices that are often silenced or ignored. It celebrates resilience, solidarity, and the strength of a community that continues to stand together in the face of adversity.

Quote from GYWPride Organisation Committee:
“This award is a testament to the hard work, passion, and love that our entire team, volunteers, sponsors, and community put into everything we do. To be recognised nationally by Gaydio is truly overwhelming. This isn’t just our trophy – it belongs to everyone who has supported us, marched with us, and stood alongside us. We are so proud to represent our region and will continue to strive for a world where everyone feels accepted and celebrated.”
“Launching the Limitless Voices Project on the same day feels incredibly meaningful. While we celebrate our achievements, we also recognise the challenges many in our community face every day. These stories matter. They humanise the debate and remind us why our work is so vital. With new stories released every Friday, we hope this project encourages empathy, sparks conversation, and helps create a safer, kinder place for everyone.”
The win marks a significant milestone for the organisation, highlighting its growing impact and reputation within the national Pride movement.
